A Gil Kane cover, Tales to Astonish #89, supplies the artwork for The Stranger stamp, #74. Three issues of Tales to Astonish in close proximity (#'s 89, 90, and 96), each provided stamp artwork. Note that the artwork might have been physically lifted from the reprinted cover, Marvel Super-Heroes #44, based on the tilt of The Stranger, and the cover date of July 1974 (meaning the artwork was probably in production somewhere around the office at the time stamps were being selected). |
